HOKKAIDO ORIGIN
Our origin as an eyewear specialist,
born in Hokkaido.
Megane Prince was founded in Hokkaido, Japan in 1963. Since our founding, we have supported each customer’s joy of clear vision through reliable technology and heartfelt service.
The sincerity and commitment to quality nurtured in Hokkaido continue to live on in our stores in Japan and in our expansion across Vietnam.
The History of MEGANE PRINCE
Founded in Hokkaido
The history of Megane Prince began as “Murata Clock & Eyewear,” an eyewear specialist serving local customers.
The Megane Prince name begins
With the development of a major commercial area in Sapporo, we opened inside a large shopping facility. This marked the beginning of “Megane Prince.”
Head office building completed
The company built its own head office building in Atsubetsu-ku, Sapporo, creating a base for Murata Co., Ltd.
Renewal with the times
To offer more fashionable eyewear in line with the changing times, we refreshed the store image.
Launch of “CLIONE”
Ultra-light, strong and flexible. CLIONE has become one of our best-selling products.
Expansion into Vietnam begins
To bring the technology and service cultivated in Japan to customers in Vietnam, we began our overseas expansion.
First store outside Hokkaido
We opened our first Megane Prince store outside Hokkaido at Aeon Mall Okinawa Rycom.
A network expanding across Japan and Vietnam
With 57 stores in Japan and 25 stores in Vietnam, we continue to bring the spirit that began in Hokkaido to more customers.
